Helena Petersen (1987 in Munich) focuses on the capture of a moment using basic means of photography – light and light-sensitive paper – albeit without a camera and based on meticulous preparation. Her works emerge from the firing of a gun. The explosion of the gun powder causes the muzzle flash: the source of light. Light, heat and gun powder penetrate the nearby photo paper. Developing the photo abstract, colourful and unique forms come into existence. The “pyrographics” visualise the enormous power and energy that are inherent in the shot. An organised act of violence turns into an unpredictable and exceptional piece of art.
